Feeling
fruity ?
Are
you a ‘Raspberry Romantic’ ?
or a ‘Grapefruit Lovegod’ ?
Take a look at what you drink says about you as a person.
TOWN
LADS AND LASSES ARE FEELING FRUITIER THAN EVER!
New
survey reveals the City’s out for fun in the sun
now it’s hot! hot! hot!
If you’re looking for a holiday romance this summer, chances are you
might have more luck back in the clubs and beer gardens of Leeds than in the
Costa del Sol or Ibiza, according to a new poll by H2 Fruit Flavoured Spring
Waters, the funky new drinks brand from Macaw Soft Drinks.
But
forget cheesy chat-up lines and small talk, if you want
to know whether you will hit it off with the cute stranger
you’ve spotted at the bar, checking out the drink
they’re seductively sipping from, could uncover
vital clues about their personality according to H2’s
research.
With
more than four out of five people in Leeds (84 per cent)
describing themselves as feeling ‘passionate’ this
summer and more than half (58 per cent) claiming to be
impulsive party animals, according to the survey’s
findings, H2 enlisted the help of behavioural psychologist
Donna Dawson, to get to the heart of the matter.
Analysis
of the poll of more than 1,000 men and women reveals
our tastebuds can say a lot about us - our flirting foibles
and pulling preferences.
What
they’re drinking should get you thinking
Lemon & Lime
Living It Up
You’re in for a raucous time if the apple of your eye orders a white
wine and lemonade or perhaps lager with a lime shot. H2’s survey found
six out of ten (62 per cent) of those who like Lemon & Lime are major party
animals with an ‘up for anything’ attitude. They are the most likely
to want a partner who can make them laugh (91 per cent) and are passionate
to the extreme, both in love and arguments (79 per cent).
Famous
Lemon & Lime personalities include glamour girl
raver JORDAN.
Raspberry
Romantic
If they go for a fruits of the forest cocktail of raspberry or cranberry, they’re
likely to be cool, calm and collected, with never so much as a hair out of
place (25 per cent). They’re also very loyal (82 per cent) and hopelessly
romantic (76 per cent).
Aussie
songbird KYLIE could be a classic romantic ‘raspberry’ personality.
Grapefruit
Lovegod
Grapefruit drinkers are thick skinned and most likely to make the first move
(60 per cent), but they like to take things slowly and hate to commit themselves
too soon (58 per cent).
Never
backward in coming forwards and always with a lady
on his arm, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE seems to be textbook ‘grapefruit’ guy.
Cheating
Orange?
Vodka & orange? – proceed with caution, orange drinkers get themselves
involved too quickly (68 per cent), and they were the most likely to admit
they’d ask someone they fancied out even if they were attached (21 per
cent). They can be grumpy in the mornings too.
Serial
dater, with several failed romances, ROBBIE WILLIAMS
could be an ‘orange’ type of guy.
Behavioural Psychologist, Donna Dawson attributes the emergence
of personality traits to the visual qualities of the various fruits; for instance
the colour red denotes love and romance - hence, romantic types can be subconsciously
more attracted to berry flavours, and yellow is infused with energy from the
sun so that’s perhaps why grapefruit appeals more to the early birds.
Donna
said “Research shows you can pick up clues about
an individual’s personality by what they choose
to eat and drink: this is because from infancy onwards
our social interactions with others are connected to
our need to eat, and so mealtimes are one of the prime
places where our personalities develop! Our food and
flavour choices are formed in infancy, and are modified
by later experiences. The trick, of course, is in knowing
what the specific food and drink choices actually mean – and
the H2 survey has made interesting, informal discoveries
relating to fruit flavours. The drink-personality match-ups
in the H2 survey could serve as both an appraisal aid
and an early warning system regarding a date’s
potential, as well as providing some good chat-up lines!
Marnie
Mumby from the Macaw the makers of H2 explained the thinking
behind the research: “We wanted to get under the
skin of our customers and find out what makes them tick.
It’s useful for us to know what flavours different
types of people go for, so we can continue to develop
delicious drinks which appeal to them and their lifestyles.”
How
they measure up - regional variations:
• Londoners are
twice as likely (60 per cent) as those in Wales (30
per cent) to pluck up the courage to ask a stranger out
on a date.
• Mancunians are
the least romantic with almost half (44 per cent) admitted
they’re not into wining, dining and wooing. Coventry came
out as the Casanova capital; a whopping 78 per cent of
people there said they were old romantics.
• Those
in Birmingham are the most likely to
need a bit of Dutch courage before a big date; 50 per
cent admitted they’d calm themselves with a few
stiff drinks. Those in Wales are most
likely to keep a clear head (71 per cent).
• 15
per cent of all Brits H2 spoke to admit that they’d
make a move on someone they fancied, even if they were
already attached! The majority were in Bristol (26
per cent)
• Cash
is a major turn on for almost one in five people (18
per cent), and it’s the Scots who
are most likely to be impressed by the size of a person’s
wallet. The Welsh are the least impressed
by money (3 per cent).
• A
worrying one in six (16 per cent) men have been out with
someone just to get closer to their better-looking best
mate, and it’s those in Norwich who
are the worst culprits!
• Scots are
the most likely to put love on the back burner for their
career (45 per cent). Those in Newcastle think
nothing of taking a sicky off work for a hot date; only
a quarter (27 per cent would put a job before a relationship). |
