Let's not do lunch

Not only have we recently had to recover from the departure from our television screens of our beloved Friday night Friends – Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, Ross, Rachel and Joey - but there’s also no more ‘Sex and the City’ evenings with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha to fall back on with a large glass of vino and a slab of chocolate!

But what is the best way to recouperate from the loss? Well, it’s time to scrape yourself off the sofa, dust yourself down and rediscover daylight, old friends and a healthier, more active lifestyle!

It’s not all just about ladies who lunch nowadays – there’s a million ways to keep fit and keep in touch with old pals in a bid to replace the void left by the Central Perk and Sex and the City crews! Plus. Doing something a little bit different and active with a good group of girlie friends will add a bit of fun, a bit of excitement – and will also have the added bonus of helping keep the cellulite at bay for a bit longer!

So throw away the Chardonnay, the takeaway and the remote control, and call your old friends (don’t text!) and choose from of the following ideas for an active day out and a good giggle with some people that matter in your life!

Outdoor activities and team building events.

A great way to have fun and get active in the outdoors. Outdoor activity days (or even weekends if you and your pals are feeling slightly more adventurous) cover everything from hill walking, bowling, and mountain biking to orienteering, water sports and cave climbing for the slightly more ambitious amongst you!

Horse riding.
From a gentle stroll to a vigorous gallop, this activity covers all ages and abilities, but also group outings will allow you to have fun with old friends and make new ones (including Dobbin if you treat him nicely!)

Fundraising!
Grab your pals together and take part in or organise your own sponsored walk/ run/ bungee jump! Not only is it encouraging a more active way of life, but it also allows you to raise some cash for a good cause at the same time. What more can you ask for?

Yoga.
Kids/ boyfriends/ work getting on your nerves and stressing you out? Join a yoga or pilates group with your friends and feel the benefits of a sport for everyone and a deep-breathing, decidedly less stressed existence.

Just big kids!
Abandon the drudgery of everyday life and head to your local theme park to for thrills and spills with friends! You’re never too old for a white knuckle thrill and all that walking about to get to the rides has got to be good for you…..make like a teenager and scream the place down with your pals!

And finally……

Home town tourism!
How much do you know about the history of your local town/ city? Get a group together and get exploring as you act like tourists for the day – see the sights, visit the monuments and museums…it’s amazing what just passes you by when you’re not looking!

And, of course, while you’re living life to the full with your oldest and best friends, don’t forget to keep hydrated…Half of all hunger pains actually stem form thirst… So pop a nice, handy bottle of H2 Flavoured Spring Water in your bag before you set out and you’ll help keep hunger at bay too. There’s no point undermining all that fun and Healthy calorie burning activity by completely snacking out, is there?
